Book Review Criteria

INTRODUCTORY POST
- A picture of the cover of the novel
- The author
-
Publisher
- # of pages
- Link to a book review or a book trailer

VOCABULARY POST
As you are reading, look up 10 words that you do not understand.

Write:
1. The line from the novel that the word is in and underline the word
2. The dictionary definition of the word
3. A new, original sentence using the word in context

Examples:
Bad = The child was precocious. (I still have no idea what the word means!)
Good = The precocious child was able to discuss nuclear physics with the scientists at the table. (I understand that this means she is very intelligent-more so than a normal child)

READING JOURNAL POSTS 

Your task is to complete 3 journal responses on your blog. (one from the beginning of your novel, one from the middle of the novel and one from the end)

Questions to Consider for you Responses:
- What is the setting of the novel? Is the setting important or could the novel happen anywhere and why? – SETTING
- Describe a problem faced by the main character. Explain how the main character deals with the problem. – CONFLICT
- Describe an experience you (or someone you know) had that was like the experience of the main character in the book. – PROTAGONIST
- If you had to choose one of the main characters to be your friend, who would you choose and why?- CHARACTER
- Is there a message or main theme emerging in the book? – THEME
- Explain how a character in the book changed or is starting to change in the section you are responding to. – DYNAMIC CHARACTER
- Describe the feeling of emotion that you experiences as you were reading this section and what caused this feeling? – MOOD
- Write your opinion to a character’s action or reaction. What would you have done?
- Write about a connection to another book you have read or a movie you have seen. (Think of similar characters, plots, settings and themes).

Remember to proof read and be creative in your blog posts. Rate it out of /10.
